4 ingredients is all you need to make this DELICIOUS Salted Caramel Sauce! This Homemade Salted Caramel sauce is so rich, thick, and creamy. The little pops of salt flakes throughout the sweet caramel make it all the more delicious! It's perfect for topping ice cream and desserts, I use this recipe in my delicious Caramel Apple Pie Recipe.
Once you make this Caramel Sauce Recipe, you will never buy caramel sauce from the store again! Those artificial caramel sauce's from the store just don't compare to Homemade rich and creamy caramel sauce. When I first made the sauce, my son was the first to taste (he loves being my taste tester) and his exact words were "Oh my Mamá, this is so good! It tastes like those caramel candies!" Then I gave the sauce a taste, and I was immediately reminded of Werther's Caramels. Same rich buttery flavor in a soft sauce form.
After a few spoonfuls of the caramel sauce, I realized we had to stop eating it or I wouldn't have any left for the pie.
Note:This Recipe makes a little over 1 cup of Salted Caramel Sauce.
Ingredients:
-1 cup granulated Sugar
-4 tablespoons Butter (1/4 cup)
-1/4 cup Heavy cream
-1 teaspoon coarse Kosher Salt
Directions:
To get started add the cup of granulated Sugar onto a saucepan over Medium/High heat. After about 2-3 minutes you'll notice the sugar turn into sugar lumps and start turning an Amber color.
Once the sugar lumps start turning an Amber color, you want to mix them rapidly until they break down into liquid form. Be sure to turn the heat down at this point, because you want the sugar to be a dark Amber color but not burn. As soon as all the lumps break down and you have a dark Amber sauce remove it from the heat.
Immediately add the butter and swirl until the butter melts. Place the pan back on Low heat, and add the heavy cream. Mix the heavy cream in very well, you will see the mixture bubble then thicken into a creamy sauce consistency. Remove it from the heat, and transfer it into a jar or heat safe container.
After transferring the caramel into a heat safe jar or bowl, sprinkle in the salt and mix well. I like using coarse Kosher salt, because you can taste the flakes of salt throughout the caramel, and it really elevates the flavor of the caramel sauce. Let the sauce cool at room temperature and Enjoy!
